I own a 690 and love it. For me, it has done everything that I need and have asked of it. Not always elegantly but it gets the job done. Your assessment is insightful and on target. To get the most out the experience, you need to ride it hard, not fast, just within it's power band. It's not for everyone. Horses for courses. Know and understand your requirements and intended use. I wish more riders would take note of your criteria for bike selection, instead of buying machines that are not fit for their riding purpose. I see a lot of poor buying decisions made out there. You seem extremely confident and inpressed by the 790, yet were obsessed with "trust" issues on the Norden. Full disclosure I have a 23 standard Norden (loving it), but I kept my DR650 "just in case". I guess you got in my head 😂

I have a 05 KLR. It's an antiquated piece of crap. Worst motorcycle I have owned in 50 years..

I always said I would never put that bike in my garage. Then a 2004 TW was offered to me for $2000 with 465 miles on it. Bought it just to flip. That didn’t happen. I had so much fun on and taught a hand full of people to ride on it. Sold it early 2023😢 for $3200 and have been kicking myself since that day. Now on the hunt for another one.

I just bought one. Planning on doing the TAT in 2025. Riding a 2016 Africa Twin right now on the great Ohio adventure trail. Dropped it at camp. Could not get it up without a ratchet winch. The rally I have no problem. The AT is a great bike on and off road but the difficulty for me to pick it up lead me to something much lighter. Rackless luggage to save weight is a game changer.

The 450l is my first bike lol. for sure had many learning curves. Throttle tamer helped a lot. now doing off road camping with it.

I’ve found people in side by sides to be very helpful if you drop your 480lb. bike in a sticky situation by yourself.

I've never seen anyone on a TW that wasn't grinning from ear to ear. That's really all you need to know about this bike. 😊

The KLR is the bike we all see ourselves on, but the CB500X is the one we realistically need. I’d love a CB500X - but gosh are they expensive second hand

I wasn't surprised my friends 690 was much quicker than my 2023 KLR650 (the world's fastest boat anchor) nor was I surprised to find out the 690 is horribly uncomfortable to ride for more than an hour. I expected that also.

Yeah, Bashan is overlooked and underrated. I love my Raven 250, pretty much the same platform as the brozz. I trust it as my daily work computer 👍💪 i do envy the olive and desert tan options though, makes me want to get one 😅

I bought a 2023 Rally last year and so far it has been great....hauls the wife and I on all kinds of adventures BUT....I would never even think of going a whole year before changing the oil. Mine has just over 4200 kms on it right now and I have changed the oil 3 times already. Once after break-in, then whenever it gets black...that's my reminder to change oil!

Sweet bike, but i will stick with the TransAlp for now. I was on the fence but my local KTM dealer didnt have the new 790 and so they were pushing the 890 and i didnt want that one.

The deer antler count is done the same way in Canada as you in Oregon. A 4x4 is a 4 point. If not symmetrical he’d be for example: a 4x3 etc. I don’t think it’s a really big deal. as long as you’re getting out there.

Are you still rocking the 2 Tracks on that? If so, how did they handle the wet stuff? I just put a set on my 24 Tuareg and am heading up from Vegas (zero mud ever!) to your neck of the woods for the Touratech rally, so curious if I should pucker or not... :)

Fogging in the cold? FXR snowcross helmet, Klim baklava, no fog mask, and double pane ski doo goggles. Good to subzero temps at 100mph! Adjust accordingly for temps and speed.😁 Look up the No Fog. That is the critical component. Neoprene breath deflector. Be safe.
